The Ideal Place for a Golf Break in the Dordogne.

A Spectacular 27-Hole Golf Course.

The course opened in 1992 and was designed by Donald Steel, who is considered one of the very best “natural” golf course architects. Arranged in three 9-hole loops, giving three 18-hole combinations, our golf course was rated in the top ten courses in South West France. Other golf facilities include a 6-hole academy course, a covered driving range, practice greens and bunkers as well as resident golf Professionals, making Vigiers an ideal place to begin or improve your game.

Two Restaurants within yards of the Hotel.

Restaurant “Les Fresques” is situated in the 16th Century château. Head Chef, Didier Casaguana was awarded 1 Michelin Star in 2014, 2015 and 2016. “Les Fresques” offers a sophisticated and sumptuous dining experience, complemented by an extensive wine list. Open every evening except Sunday and Wednesday from 14th April to 31st October 2016.

Brasserie “Le Chai” is set in our old wine making building and offers a more informal and relaxed dining experience, also serving lighter meals and snacks. (lunch: 12pm – 2pm, snacks: 2pm – 4:00pm, diner: 7pm – 9pm).

Rated as One of the Top 10 Best Golf Courses in Aquitaine by Fairways Magazine, France 2013

When asked by Golf World to name his favourite hole from his long career, Donald Steel chose the eighteenth at Château des Vigiers, with its dog-leg over a ridge for the second shot over the lake on to the green; finishing in front of the Château. It was subsequently described in Golf World under the heading “Vintage Finale”.
With the addition of the new 9-hole course, Vigier golfers now experience a much wider variety of playing conditions. The new course opened in early 2008, and integrates into the existing 18 hole course to form 3 new 9-hole courses: “La Vallée”, “Le Lac”, “Les Vignes”. Golfers can now play three different configurations of 18-holes, each with different challenges and gradients.

Our multilingual staff are delighted to organize visits to sample the produce at the AOC vineyards of Bordeaux and Bergerac, or enjoy the many local markets, where you can buy local specialities such as truffles, cèpes, and foie gras.

There is so much to do and see in the Dordogne. Testament to the history of the region are the hundreds of castles dotted along the banks of the river Dordogne. Many are open to visitors and well worth a day trip
